A Brief History of The Curve Cafe
The original "Curve Cafe" was purchased by Fritz and Wilma Mandt in 1953 from Frank Moarz. The restaurant with two cabins and a garage was located closer to the downtown area, just west of Pleasant Street. It was surrounded by Piotrowski's Sinclair gas station, garage, and some rental cabins. Parking was limited to the front of the restaurant.
In April of 1958, the restaurant, one cabin and the garage were moved to a one acre lot purchased from Harold Dahlen. The restaurant was closed a month for improvements. The cabin and garage that were moved were made into the four bedroom house, now located behind the restaurant.
Additional remodeling was completed again in 1965 with the addition of the entry way and kitchen remodel. A new roof was also added in the mid-sixties completely changing the outside appearance of the restaurant. Fritz and Wilma sold the restaurant a couple years later to Bob and Mary Ann Fiedler. The restaurant has had several operators since then, but continues to hold a certain charm that makes it a favorite among many of the Cambridge's citizens.
